Gravatar and Summary in Aggregator
Posted by scotty on May 11th, 2006 in Announcement
I have just modified the FOCUSer recent update aggregator to show avator and summary next to each entry on the page (also reduce the number of entries to 25).
If you would like to have an avatar displayed next to your entry (instead of a big question mark), here is what you need to do:
- Register to the service Gravatar, the Globally Recognized Avatar with your existing email address. Upload a picture of yours.
- Tell me the email address you use so I can put that into database next to your blog.
- When the Gravatar people have finally approved your avatar, it will be shown against your entries!
If you already have a gravatar account, then skip step 1. There are other benefits signing up Gravatar like having your avatar displayed next to your comments on many gravatar powered blog sites (like this one :).

I was looking for a post on this (so as to comment here) before I sent you the email! =) Must have missed it… =)

Then you must be looking at the new focuser update page within seconds of me swapping the new version around, as I pretty much blogged about it straight away.
No need to check that page every minute, Lilis! It is only updated once a hour :)
And yeah — with the new hardware we can track more blogs now. I am pretty sure there are more blogs written by FOCUsers. Submit yours now!

Hang on hang on.
No need to expose your email in the public — I have replaced them with <EDITED>. I know what your emails are because you are required to fill them out before you comment, but please do not put your actual email addresses inside the comment.
Usually it takes a few hours before the Gravatar team to rate and approve your avatars. I am only showing PG rated avatars in the FOCUSer update page. No need to upload M, R or X-rated avatars because they will not be shown :)

Sui and Felix — I have updated your feed details to include the email address so your gravatar will be displayed. I don’t need the URL, but just the email address you use to set up gravatar.
Actually I do have your email addresses — but now entirely sure whether they are still current. So for those with gravatar, please comment here just to confirm.
